Hartbeespoort at a glance

Situated on the edge of the Cradle of Mankind and framed by the Magalies Mountain range, nestles the picturesque Hartbeespoort Dam. Fresh air, sublime sunshine and stunning sunsets compliment the rolling hills and dales stretching as far as the eye can see.

Escape the city life to experience outdoor living. World class Golf Estates (Pecanwood, Magalies Park, Caribbean Beach Club, Seasons Golf Resort) enthuse avid golfers, while water babies delight in the multitude of water-sport facilities in almost every suburb around the Southern Shores. (Lakeland, Key West, Eagles Landing, Estate d'Afrique).  Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy the abundant species of birds and roaming game in several estates (Lakeland, The Coves, Seasons Golf Resort).

The layers of colours ranging from blue waters, green fields and ever changing palettes of sunsets and mountain silhouettes are breathtakingly rejuvenating. Westlake Country & Safari Estate encapsulates just that. Here, you are able to stable your horse, ready for out-rides that will have you fascinated by nature and all its allure.

Farming areas incorporate sustainability in the area. Perfectly exemplifying this concept, The Coves Lifestyle Estate is developed around operational farming pivots where you can sit on your front porch, admiring the growing Lucerne, back-dropped by the gentle slopes of the Magalies.

Famous for its elevation over Hartbeespoort Dam, Kosmos is a preferred area for many artists. The views inspire, sooth and initiate creativity with contemporary flair. It has historical richness dating back to when the dam was built - a traditional charmer in the area.

Surrounding attractions include markets, shops, restaurants and the charming town of Magaliesburg. Wine and dine at one of many restaurants including La Terazza, African Swiss, Pecanwood Country Club, Caribbean Beach Club or the ever popular Silver Orange Bistro. Take a drive into the country side of Scheerpoort and Hekpoort and explore various tourism activities including Cheese Tasting, Strawberry Picking, Balloon Safaris, Quad Bike and Horse out-rides, River Rafting, Micro-light flights and plenty more. Visits to the ever popular flea markets, Chameleon Village and Welwitschia Country Market, will have you negotiating for hours to get that bargain of the decade.

Hartbeespoort Dam is perfectly located only twenty minutes from the northern outskirts of Johannesburg and the western outskirts of Pretoria. This is where nature rolls out the Red Carpet to tourism in the North-West province. Follow the route to Sun City, explore the magic of the Marico Bushveld or hang from the tree tops at the Canopy Tours in the Buffelspoort area.

The secluded valley of Buffelspoort, lying half way between Hartbeespoort Dam and Rustenburg beckons an unperturbed lifestyle - just over a hundred kilometres from both Johannesburg and Pretoria and some twenty kilometres South-East of Rustenburg. Fed by rivers from adjoining mountain gorges, Buffelspoort Dam remains a pristine dam, a popular recreational haunt for yachting, speed-boating and canoeing.

Hartbeespoort Dam and surrounding areas - a quaint countryside living arrangement that is complimented by Lanseria International Airport, and bustling city life within easy reach - you need not live anywhere else again.

Broederstroom

Nestled in the heart of the foothills of the Magaliesberg mountains in North West province lies the small town of Broederstroom. Derived from the Dutch phrase, “Brothers’ Stream”, the settlement is aptly named, for a rivulet of the Hartbeespoort Dam runs past the town. The area is serene, virtually untouched, and characterized by many nature reserves, game farms and a handful of lodges.

Broederstroom is the perfect place for development of any kind – a retreat into the bush, away from the commercial hubbub, a peaceful nook to start a family, or a quiet smallholding to retire to.
Despite its rural nature, Broederstroom is nearly on the border between Gauteng and North West, and thus is a mere 20-minute drive from Lanseria International Airport, 40 minutes from Centurion, and an hour from Johannesburg Central. Its close proximity to both urban Johannesburg and rural Magaliesberg makes Broederstroom the ideal refuge from the buzz of the big city, but it is not so far as to be inconvenient.

Broederstroom’s intimate nature is echoed by the fact that it only has one primary school in the town itself, but the Hartbeespoort Dam area has many public and private schools to choose from. Hartbeespoort Dam Primary and High Schools are approximately 20 minutes away, as are Laerskool General Hendrik Schoeman, Pecanwood College, Glenwood High School, The Mountain Cambridge School and Doxa Deo Hartbeespoort, offering a wide choice of schooling for residents of Broederstroom and surrounds.
Hartbeespoort also offers multiple shopping centres and villages around Broederstroom, including everything from simple grocery stores all the way through to luxury stores.
