Pinetown at a glance

Pinetown lies at the heart of the Durban Metro Area. With its ideal location, infrastructure, transport system and first world communications, it is considered a prime investment area.

Current growth rates and development trends are the result of attractive incentive packages and a large labour force with a balanced mixture of skills. The second largest concentration of light and heavy industry in the region is located mainly in the New Germany node.

Pinetown is ideally situated with easy and quick access to major highways leading to sea-side resorts and beaches. The famous and well known Valley of a 1000 Hills is but a short drive inland.

A Nature Reserve is set high in the scenic hills and valleys of New Germany and Pinetown. In the reserve lies a well preserved wilderness mosaic of forests, bushclumps and coastal grasslands. The reserve is also well known among nature lovers for its masses of wild flowers during spring, its high bird population and a wonderfully diverse tree composition.

The Paradise Valley Nature Reserve features in all its splendour hectares of coastal forest and remnant grasslands with the Umbilo River running through the length of the reserve. The Waterfall trail is an easy walking trail which follows the Umbilo River and features the majestic Umbilo Falls.

Pinetown, with its attractive residential areas, excellent schools, various sports facilities and shopping complexes all in close proximity, make it a convenient and vibrant place to live.

Cowies Hill

The lush, green suburb of Cowies Hill is an upmarket residential area in Pinetown, Durban and is the perfect community in which to raise a family. The hill, after which the suburb was named, is a major feature in the annual Comrades Marathon, which is held between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

The suburb itself is surrounded by multiple conveniences including Cowies Hill Pre-Primary School, who aim to nurture children between the ages of fourteen months and six years with the finest education and basic skills before feeding them into primary school.

Residents of Cowies Hill enjoy the typical Durban climate of hot and humid summers and pleasantly warm and dry winters, wonderfully free of frost. This means that any time of the year is a good time to visit the beautiful Durban coastline, which is situated just ten kilometres away.

Cowies Hill was originally established as farmland and inhabited by the mayor of Pinetown and his family because of its spectacular position overlooking the surrounding area.

Just a five minute drive on the N3, the Pavilion complex is a popular shopping and entertainment experience. Fun, food and fashion all under one roof, there’s something for every member of the family.
For the health-conscious, there is a Virgin Active just a stone’s throw away. For the foodies, there is an abundance of fantastic restaurants and pubs in the area.

Perfect for those who are looking to be tucked away in a quiet, leafy paradise, Cowies Hill is a balmy, safe, family-friendly place to live.
