Bo Kaap
Bo-Kaap (also known as Schotsche Kloof or the ‘Malay Quarter') can be literally translated as ‘Above Cape Town', due to its' position directly above the city centre. It is the most vibrant and colourful suburb in Cape Town's City Bowl. Bo-Kaap is situated right next door to the CBD above Buitengracht Street. It lies between Strand Street to its' North and Military Road to its' South.
The main attractions to Bo-Kaap are its' position below Signal Hill, the East-facing views of the city, Table Mountain and Devil's Peak and the fascinating history of the area, which is extremely well documented at the Bo-Kaap Museum in Wale Street. Tourist attractions, such as the V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain, are also in close proximity.
