Welbedacht
The Welbedacht area offers country living, only two minutes away from the Knysna town centre.
If you wish to live in the heart of South Africa's Garden Route, then this very pretty, quiet and peaceful Knysna suburb is ideal. The main road, bordered by trees and hedges, is known as Welbedacht lane. Buck and tortoises are often seen here, and there is abundant birdlife, including the exquisite Knysna Loerie.
There are several establishments offering holiday accommodation in Welbedacht - one of which has stunning views across the lagoon to Belvidere. The area also has a restaurant.
A new development is a retirement lifestyle estate in Welbedacht that has full frail care facilities. The first phase is now on sale. The Knysna Montessori school is in the valley, and is responsible for the weekly Friday Market, where various food stalls and arts & crafts offer Knysna families the ideal Friday evening outing.
