Gordons Bay at a glance

Gordon’s Bay is a harbour town situated along the Helderberg Mountains and lies just 8 km’s from The Strand and about 50 km’s (45-minutes) outside Cape Town. The town is the Cape’s very own Monte Carlo, with blue never-ending ocean framed by gorgeous mountains and white sandy beaches. 

False Bay Beaches 

Gordon’s Bay is situated on the northeast corner of False Bay which boasts some of the best beaches in the Cape, with rock pools, shallow paddling areas and calm seasons - these beaches invite you to indulge in their beauty. The ocean is much warmer here than on the Atlantic coast, with Bikini Beach having been awarded Blue Flag status (international quality rating). The beach is a major attraction in the town, drawing a number tourists and local holiday-makers, and is surrounded by the towering Hottentots-Holland Mountains. In addition to its inviting waters, it is also popular for its upmarket and trendy restaurants and hotels. The beach is famous among surfers as they enjoy the its high sloped waves. 

The beaches of Gordon’s Bay offer more than just a place to soak up the sun, as the waters are perfect for a day out on the boat. You can hire your own boat, either a fishing boat or ski-boat, or embark on a scenic cruise, visitors can spend hours of fun enjoying the gorgeous outdoors. Blue Rock Resort offers beach fun with their knee-boarding, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Depending on the weather, night skiing is offered on a Friday evening from 7pm – 9pm. This provides you and your family an opportunity to experience the waters from a different angle. 
Restaurants 

Harbour Lights

Gordon’s Bay has many restaurants with a few along the beach front/harbour. These restaurants create a fantastic atmosphere for families to enjoy meals amid breath-taking views. One of these include Harbour Lights, this seafood restaurant is situated along False Bay this restaurant is perfect for a date night, but it is also suited for the whole family.

The Thirsty Oyster Tavern

Another restaurant that is a must to try out is The Thirsty Oyster Tavern which is situated in the 'old' harbour. This hybrid pub and restaurant offers a rustic atmosphere, and is a favourite among locals and tourists. In addition to a vast menu that caters to a variety of tastes, it has live entertainment and big TV screens for sports lovers.   

Waterkloof Wine Estate 

Just before Sir Lowry’s pass, 8 minutes away from Gordon’s Bay, lies Waterkloof Wine Estate. The estate extends to both sides of the Hottentots Mountain range and is renowned for its sophisticated gravitational cellar, a restaurant that features in the top 10 best restaurants country-wide and a tasting room which was constructed in 2009. 

Since 2009, Waterkloof began exporting its unique wine blends around the world. Its aim is to produce “honest wines” that express their heritage. Their vineyard produces premium grapes that make for beautifully crafted wine instilled with its own character and sense of origin. Established in 1993 by Paul Boutinot whose sole purpose was to uncover a vineyard site with the ability to harvest truly splendid wine- it is refreshing to know that today his findings are upheld and maintained to the highest of standards.

SomerStrand College

SomerStrand College is a Private School with small classes and two educators per class. The school begins with nursery school and follows through to high school.
